Autobell® Car Wash is America’s second largest full-service, conveyorized car wash company with over 75 locations in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. The company was founded in Charlotte, NC, in 1969 by the late Charles Howard, father of Autobell CEO Chuck Howard, and is still privately held and family-operated. Autobell® now employs more than 3,000 people and washes over 4 million cars annually.
Autobell®, which treats 100% and recycles up to 100% of water used, is well known for its water conservation procedures and has won numerous awards and recognitions from utilities, governments, and media for its environmental commitment. Autobell® is often praised for its community and employee relations, as well as its scholarship and charity programs.
The Autobell® Vision
Provide a quality car wash at a value while focusing on an exceptional customer experience.
Autobell® has washed nearly 50 million cars since opening its doors in 1969.
Fundraising and Charities
Autobell® Car Wash Fundraising Program began in 1998 and has helped raise over $7 million for charitable groups in Autobell® communities. Autobell® provides nonprofit groups with $20 gift cards that are sold by the groups at the normal retail price. The nonprofits then keep 50% of the revenue on each gift card sold and return any unsold gift cards. Charities benefit because they keep half the proceeds, they don’t have to organize and execute a car wash, or worry about rain dates.
Other charitable partners include:
- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department Adopt-A-Stream Program
- American Red Cross: Operation Phone Home, Blood Drive, and First-Aid Kit Giveaway
- American Heart Association
- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
- Catawba River Island Habitat cleanup
