COVID Car Cleaning Tips
3 Easy Steps to Stay Safe – the most effective one is free!
Keeping your car’s interior free of viruses and bacteria like the flu and COVID-19 is simple if you follow a few easy steps from the experts at Autobell®.
- Prioritize the surfaces you touch: “Focus on the steering wheel, gear shifter, seat belts, and the center console,” says David Reep, Autobell® Operations Manager. “Rearview mirrors merit a wipe, too. We recommend an EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant. Always test a small, inconspicuous area to ensure that it's safe on that surface or fabric.” These cleaning steps are suggested twice a week depending on how much you drive. If you drive more than 250 miles a week, additional cleanings are recommended.
- Use a professional service to ensure disinfectant gets to all the hard-to-reach surfaces. We invite you to receive the Autobell Interior Disinfectant service FREE with an interior cleaning. The EPA-registered, hospital-grade contact disinfectant is fogged on the inside of the vehicle. This is followed by an activation period with car doors and windows closed, and the AC set to recirculate the air. We have been proud to offer this service since the early onset of the pandemic. It is currently available at all Autobell® Car Wash locations.
- Don’t forget the exterior: “In between weekly professional cleanings, wipe down your door handles and gas cap.”
One final tip – remember to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before entering the vehicle.
